What it is

Four things the book does

Their name is the plot

Not a sticker on a template. The child earns every letter of their own name across the story, and the name they were given is the reason the pages turn.

Drawn to look like them, honestly

The illustrated child is built from presets drawn in one hand: 8 skin tones with their own shading, 12 hair styles including braids, locs, coils and twists, 8 hair colors, 4 eye colors, glasses if worn. A storybook likeness, offered as a drawing and never as a portrait.

Every name checked before it is set

Each name passes the same automatic screen the press uses, and a person reads every order before it goes to print.

One copy, made for one child

A softcover picture book, 8.5 inches square, 32 pages, printed for the child it names rather than pulled from a shelf.
